On October 27, 2011 the banquet staff waited on line to cast their vote for their Unique Labor Union. They won that election 71 to 50.

This shop has been created for you as members of the Evelyn Gonzalez Union. It will be the most convenient way to communicate and to find out everything that is going on with your union, including:

• Learning when and where union meetings and elections will be.
• Reading union news.
• Staying updated with what is going on at your work place and in the industry.

We want you to be well informed and participate in all our future activities.

Your union was created with much sacrifice and courage to secure our employment after winning the largest lawsuit settlement of 8.5 million in our industry with our employer and to bring divine justice, dignity, equality and respect into our workplace. We all have gone  through hardships  and made it because fear can never exist when you know your innate rights. By transforming fear into brave actions and courage, we have made history in the National Labor Relation Board and the hospitality industry. This unique union is clear proof of how powerful we are. Knowledge is power, especially when we all decide to put that knowledge into action.

As a member of your union, you have an  important responsibility. You must  take a position, be a leader, be proud, be active, and embrace this position and the union with loyalty and respect.
